ABOUT ME

profile
Geraldine Sarmiento is an artist and designer. She has many years of professional working experience as a visual designer for print and web. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The Cooper Union, and a Master of Professional Studies degree from NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program, where she developed a thesis on the use of algorithms called L-systems as a tool for design. At present, Geraldine continues to work as a designer for various interactive, web and print projects.

PROJECTS

algorithms/repetition
Crystal drawings are sketches inspired by rock and crystal forms created in Processing and Flash. Or play.

L-system drawings and sounds are experiments generated through the use of algorithms called L-systems. This later developed into a thesis, Transitions in L-systems.

OpenGL experiments with L-systems.

animation
A short stop-action animation created with origami.

Labyrinth is a cut out animation created with AfterEffects.

interactive
Displacements is an interactive landscape using grayscale images to generate terrain.

science visualization
